The incredibly powerful new Ninja Stream is a 5” 4Kp60 Connected HDR Monitor-Recorder with Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB-C, designed to overcome the challenges of today’s socially distanced productions and to usher in a new era of streaming on productions without a computer in sight.
High quality HDR video feeds can be simultaneous recorded in both 4K ProRes and H.264/5 proxy, whilst being shared locally with others on-set over Wi-Fi to other Ninja’s, smart devices or web-based platforms and Ethernet 1Gbe at up to 300m and livestreaming your content around the world — all at the same time.
These incredible features are in addition to the standard professional monitoring and recording features you would expect from an Atomos product such as 4:2:2 10-bit recording and professional monitoring tools on a 1000nit HDR display.
Simultaneous Codec Recording
Ninja Stream allows you to record an editing codec like Apple ProRes HQ whilst recording an H.265 or H.264 proxy version at the same time. Both the edit and proxy files will share file names and timecode to facilitate the proxy workflow in post-production.
The 10-bit H.265 file provides excellent image quality with a small file size, whereas the 8-bit H.264 file provides a lower bitrate option for proxy workflows on older computers. The excellent image quality and small file size also means that you can share or deliver your files immediately after a shoot and they will look great, plus the small file size will make the uploading process very fast.
Ninja Stream can record up to 4Kp60 in either Apple ProRes (Proxy, LT, 422, HQ), H.264 (up to 8-bit) or H.265 (up to 10-bit). These compressed codecs give users more flexibility with recording times and reduces the media cost during capture, backup and archiving.
The Ninja Stream facilitates on-set collaboration during a time when social distancing on-set is of paramount importance for the health and safety. The removable antennas add 5.8Ghz Wi-Fi with Dual MIMO 802.11a/c/g for local streaming in high quality and low latency. From a single Ninja Stream, users can output 10-bit 4Kp60 HDR up to 100m with only 1 frame delay to 4 separate devices. Stepping back the resolution to HD expands this range even further, and can reach up to 300m for HDp30 (open line of sight environment, no wireless interference).
These features mean that clients, directors and crew can all be kept apart but still part of the action. Streaming to 4 devices allows Directors to use additional Ninja Streams to review shots with the on-board scopes whilst concurrently streaming to the iPhones of clients and crew, providing an extremely affordable solution for COVID-friendly monitoring on productions.
Livestream directly to YouTube and Facebook
One of the most incredible features of the Ninja Stream, is the ability to use the 5G/4G cellular connection to stream directly to your platform of choice without the need for a computer. This makes streaming setups so much simpler and is also perfect for when you are streaming from the field. You can use your Android device, iPhone or optional 5G dongle via USB-C to connect to the internet, and then select the streaming quality from 8-bit H.264 or 10-bit H.265.
When quality is a priority, you can stream your video feed via Ethernet as the Ninja Stream outputs up to 200mBs/sec or max of 1G via a router into high speed, low latency, long range networks or simply direct to a Mac/PC.
Multiple i/o options for greater versatility.
200MBs / 1G
directly to Twitch
For gamers wanting to livestream the gaming action, a Ninja Stream connected to a gaming console can deliver fast-paced gaming action in 4Kp60 with the connected iPhone capturing and integrating a shot of the user as PiP on the fly, and streamed to the platform of your choice. Equally with a DSLR, you could be focussing the camera on an intricate product demonstration with a PiP of the instructor from the iPhone integrated and streamed directly. All of this without a computer or IT degree in sight.
